The North American Conference on British Studies (NACBS) sponsors annual prizes for the best books and articles in the field of British studies published during the preceding year, It also sponsors two fellowships for dissertation research and two undergraduate essay contests in British Studies.

Each prize for scholarship is awarded to an author of a work published in the preceding calendar year that in the judgment of the respective prize committees, best represents scholarship in all fields of British studies. The authors of these books and articles must be residents of the United States or Canada, but their works can appear either in North America or abroad. Nomination for any of these prizes may be made by authors, publishers, editors, friends, teachers, or colleagues. These competitions normally have their deadlines for nominations set as April 1st in the year following publication of the respective books and articles, and the prizes are announced at the Awards Ceremony held at the annual meeting in the autumn. The John Ben Snow Prize is for the best book in any field of British studies dealing with the period from the Middle Ages through the eighteenth century. The Albion Book Prize is for the best book on any aspect of British studies since 1800. The Walter D. Love Prize is for the best scholarly article in any field of British Studies.

The NACBS Dissertation Year Fellowship, funded by an endowment raised by members, the regional conferences, foundations, and corporations, and co-sponsored by the British Council, is awarded to support dissertation research in the libraries and archives of the United Kingdom by a graduate student enrolled in a North American university. The NACBS and the Huntington Library in San Marino, California fund the NACBS-Huntington Library Fellowship for graduate student research in the collections of the Huntington Library.
