Call for Applicants: Tech Assistants, NACBS Online Meeting, November 2020

Published: October 10, 2020
The NACBS seeks paid assistants to provide technical support during our online conference this November. Assistants will serve as hosts of Zoom channels, liaising with panel chairs and presenters to facilitate smooth and productive conference sessions.
Applicants should have broad technical expertise and, specifically, demonstrated experience working with Zoom—as session instructors/hosts, not merely as participants. They should be capable of providing real time technical assistance to panel chairs, participants, and audience members. They must also be willing to take part in further training, as specified by the NACBS Executive Director, including reviewing Zoom video tutorials.
Applicants should feel comfortable performing the following functions on Zoom:
designating panel chairs as co-hosts

admitting participants from the waiting room

muting/unmuting and removing participants

moderating the chat function

moving participants into breakout rooms

enabling participants to share screens
recording sessions.

Applicants should be graduate students or early career professionals with a connection to the NACBS (broadly defined to include membership, attendance or participation in past conferences, be the student of a member, etc.) or an interest in British studies.
$200 per day, plus an additional $30 for training

How to Apply:
Applicants should submit a CV and short statement in pdf format to [email protected] by October 19. Statements (1-2 paragraphs) should detail the applicant’s technical qualifications for the position, including experience with Zoom. They should also signal their availability to work on the following days:

Saturday, November 7

Sunday, November 8

Saturday, November 14

Sunday, November 15
Hours will vary, but applicants should plan to be available between 10:30am-5pm Eastern Time.
