PCCBS and NACBS 2013 (Nov. 8-10)

Published: March 14, 2013

I am writing to you on behalf of the Pacific Coast Conference on British Studies to invite scholars working on Britain to participate in the upcoming meeting of the NACBS, to be held in Portland, Oregon, Nov. 8-10, 2013.  The meeting will take place in the historic Benson Hotel (opened in 1913).  The hotel is centrally located with easy access to restaurants, the lovely classical Chinese Garden, and the ever-popular Powell's Bookstore.  One food critic has described the restaurant scene as "the scrappiest, most original gastronomic destination in America."  Those of you familiar with "Portlandia" will have glimpsed another side of life in the Pacific Northwest, one you might encounter if you visit a coffee shop or brew pub.  The MAX light rail system and the Portland Streetcar make travel around the city easy.  Do not miss out on this opportunity to sample the treats Portland has to offer.  The deadline for panel submissions has been extended to March 25th.  I look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

Randall McGowen, President PCCBS
