Join the NACBS and the Journal of British Studies for our third virtual discussion of “How I Wrote This”. In this one-hour session, we invite an author who has published a successful and popular article to explain how it happened. “What is Family in an Age of Plague? The Liber Lynne and the Urban Family in Late Medieval England,” published in September 2025, offers an analysis of an intriguing fifteenth-century manuscript that offers clues about the intersections of family and plague. Author Christian Liddy discusses his experience of writing—and revising—the article for JBS.

Author Bio: I specialize in the history of the late Middle Ages, but my research and publications also extend backwards to the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. I am interested in all things "urban," and I explore medieval English towns from a comparative, European perspective.
