JBS Seeks Book Review Editorial Assistants
The Book Reviews Team at the Journal of British Studies seeks to hire two editorial assistants. These positions are fully remote. One position is open to scholars with a research specialization in the history of Medieval Britain, and one position is open to scholars with a research specialization in post-1800 British history, broadly defined to include the history of the British empire and the Anglophone world.
This is a 12-month appointment beginning as early as 1 July 2025 and requires roughly 20-25 hours per month at a rate of $18/hour, paid in USD. The successful candidate will work closely with the book review editors, assisting with such duties as copy editing and the electronic publication process. Applicants may be advanced doctoral candidates or recent PhDs and must possess an ability to work independently on editorial processes as well as a collaborative working style with an ability to attend to complex detail. Previous editorial experience is preferred but not required.
For consideration, please submit by 15 June a curriculum vitae, a brief cover letter, a short writing sample (e.g., an unpublished work in progress, a seminar paper, dissertation chapter draft, journal article or book or dissertation chapter), and the names and contact information of two academic references to jbsreviews@nacbs.org. For further questions about this position, please email the Book Reviews Team at jbsreviews@nacbs.org.
