The NACBS blog seeks volunteers to join the editorial board.
Broadsides, the NACBS blog, seeks two volunteers to join our editorial board for a 2- or 3- year term. NACBS members at any career stage are eligible to serve on the editorial board.
Broadsides launched in April 2023 as a new NACBS initiative (you can read more about it here). This digital publication offers an accessible, communal space to host scholarly discussion of interest to our membership. Over the past two and a half years, Broadsides has published over seventy pieces on a broad range of topics. Particular highlights have included several special series on the historiography of Ireland/Northern Ireland, a “state of the field” series on British Studies, Britain and the US Presidency, teaching British Studies outside the Anglophone academy, and an LGBTQ+ series to celebrate Pride month. Beyond research-focused or thematic pieces, the blog has also featured reflections on pedagogy, conferencing, graduate student issues, as well remembrances of members who have passed and histories of our regional affiliates. We aim to continue to publish between 20-30 pieces per year on a diverse range of topics.
The editorial board advises and supports the executive director, who is responsible for managing the blog and overseeing the publication process. The expanded board will consist of 5-6 members who will work collaboratively to assist in suggesting topics for posts, soliciting pieces from potential authors, and providing editorial oversight. We anticipate volunteers on the editorial board will spend an average of one hour per week fulfilling their responsibilities. Blog posts are short, between 1000-1400 words (you can find the style guidelines here for reference).
If you would like to express interest in serving on the Broadsides editorial board, please fill out this form before January 30. Feel free to reach out to Amanda Perry (execdirector@nacbs.org) with any questions.
