The NACBS signs on to ACLS's statement on the recent SCOTUS ruling on affirmative action
On Thursday, the U.S. Supreme Court upended decades of precedent, ruling that race can no longer be considered as a factor in university admission decisions. The decision will impact student body diversity at campuses across the US, where many of our members work, and will likely be felt beyond universities as the ruling is called upon to challenge broader DEIA efforts in the future. The NACBS expresses its dissatisfaction with the decision and remains committed to expanding diversity both within our organization and the field of British Studies. The NACBS has signed on to the ACLS’s statement on the ruling and stands with the ACLS in “our belief in the value of diversity at all levels of higher education.”
