Announcing new NACBS funding opportunities
The NACBS is delighted to announce two new fellowships along with a new grants funding scheme. These initiatives are funded by an annual drawdown on the earnings from NACBS endowment funds in recognition of the need for NACBS to invest in preserving and expanding British Studies scholarship in light of declining departmental resources and precarious employment for many scholars. The new fellowship programs will support research in gender and sexuality, as well as imperial and postcolonial studies. The new grant program will offer flexible funding to support the production of a work of scholarship across a range of professional categories, as well as provide support for bringing scholars together. More information can be found at the linked pages below.

New Fellowships
Gender and Sexuality Studies Fellowship
Awarded to support research on any aspect of gender or sexuality in British Studies. Graduate students and early career researchers are eligible to apply. Two grants of $4000 will be awarded annually.
Â
Imperial and Postcolonial Studies Fellowship
Awarded to support research on any aspect of Britain’s empire or its postcolonial legacies. Graduate students and early career researchers are eligible to apply. Two grants of $4000 will be awarded annually.Â

New Grants Funding Scheme
This flexible funding can be used to support research travel, access to databases, digital humanities projects, image reproduction fees, or other costs associated with the production of a work of scholarship. Members can apply for up to $2000 in one of three categories: precarious scholars, unsupported faculty, and mid-career faculty.
Â
These grants provide funding for bringing people together in speaker series, seminars, colloquia, or other workshops on campuses across North America. Members can apply for up to $1500 per annum and recipients are encouraged to share their series or events with the broader NACBS community. Â

Applications for the new fellowships and grants will be due on May 15. You can find a full list of NACBS fellowships here, grants here, and prizes here.
